How to achieve sustainable habit change

We all know that it can be exciting to feel our best and change our current lifestyle into a new one where we feel fantastic and ready to conquer the world.

If you want more energy; want to implement changes in your exercise routine, stop the weight roller coaster mode from belly fat to inflammation, want more time for yourself so your health and wellness don't get jeopardized, it is time to change your current habits.

If you are looking to make a truly sustainable change to your behaviour and actions, there is one important factor that is not the habit itself, but the underlying belief that you have about yourself and the world around you.

By paying attention to our self-talk and our statements to others, we can understand how we see ourselves and the world.

For example, If you are in the habit of wanting to eat a salad a day to start balancing your blood sugar but you drag yourself daily to make the salad and you have the belief that nothing is going to work and you will always be craving for sugars and be overweight and it doesn’t matter what you do because you will fail, there is a big disconnect between the belief and the behaviour.  You will start showing sabotaging actions to keep with the old belief so, eventually; this discrepancy has to be solved if you want to succeed.

What needs to change?  You need to start looking at new beliefs to support the habit change you want to make. You will become the “person who” eats a salad a day, exercises at least 3 times a week, doesn’t purchase high sugary processed foods and hide them in the cupboards, and any other behaviour that will take you where you want to go.

You want to embody the identity of the new person and how to get there, you want to be aware of your thought process, and how you talk to yourself and also notice where the old beliefs come from.  Are those negative self-talks true?  If yes, when did you decide that?

One of the best ways to get rid of those negative beliefs implanted in your subconscious mind from past experiences and perceptions is NLP.  With Neuro-Linguistic Programming, we can discover those limiting beliefs and how they can sabotage your progress and stop you from creating new habits.

Remember that our beliefs are our perceptions. In order to shift your reality, you need to shift your thoughts, shift your decisions and shift your beliefs so you can change the world into the possibility you want it to be.

While NLP technically is not magic, it is the language of the unconscious mind where all learning and behaviour change happens.

I have noticed that by adding NLP to my coaching sessions, I have guided my clients to get the conscious mind out of the way, so we can create changes at the root and implement lasting healthy habits to transform their body and lifestyle
